A New Bus Route for Calverton?
/in News, Noticeboard /by ClerkThere seems to be some support for one or two of the four buses an hour between Nottingham and Calverton being re-routed slightly to provide a service to Hollinwood Lane and Main Street. To quantify this support we would like as many people as possible to take part in a survey. If you would like to take part please click on this link Bus Route Survey Calverton. It is a very short survey and should only take 5 minutes to complete.
All data collected will be deleted when it has served its purpose.
Calverton Parish Council – Land Purchase
/in Noticeboard /by calverton_adminCalverton Parish Council has had its offer of £400,000 on a 39.77 acre parcel of land accepted. The land is located immediately to the south of Calverton village. Calverton Parish Council has recently consulted with residents about their views regarding this proposed land purchase and its future use as an open space. There was overwhelming support for the proposed purchase.
Important Planning Application Decision
/in Noticeboard /by calverton_adminDevelopment Proposal: St. Wilfrid’s Square – Planning Permission Granted
Gedling Borough Council Planning Department recommended approval for the planning application for a 3 storey development in the open space at the northern side of the St.Wilfrid’s Square precinct.
Gedling Borough Council Planning Committee members voted to grant full planning permission for the proposed development on Wednesday 18th October 2017. Unfortunately, despite having received over 1200 objections from local residents, Gedling Borough Planning Committee members voted 9:6 to grant planning permission. A large number of Calverton Parish Councillors and residents attended the planning committee meeting at which Gedling Borough Councillors voted to approve the development proposals. Calverton Parish Council’s Chair, Cllr. John Bailey, spoke on behalf of Calverton residents against the application.
Calverton Parish Council held an Extraordinary meeting on Thursday 2nd November to discuss this matter in detail.
The proposed development consists of 4 retail units and 8 flats. The design, scale and materials of the proposed development are completely inappropriate. It would impact negatively on the built environment of the village centre, adversely affect current residents/businesses and harm Calverton’s Conservation Area and its setting. The proposals are not be in conformity with Calverton’s Neighbourhood Plan – which has recently been aopproved at referendum and formally made by Gedling Borough Council.
The development makes no provision for the additional car parking that it will generate and will have a significant impact on the ongoing car parking problems in the village.
Full details of the application (reference: 2017/0207) are on the Gedling Borough Council website. The Parish Council submitted substantial comments and also collected around 1000 letters of objection, which were then submitted to Gedling Borough Council on behalf of local residents – To no avail.
